Nylon Hearts: Poets and world-renowned classical guitar masters come together at Teatrino

Poetry and guitar music make a lovely bouquet for Valentine’s Day, February 14, 8:30 p.m. at Teatrino, Promenade Greenhills, San Juan City. Open your heart for a Valentine concert called “Nylon Hearts.”

This unique treat ups the ante on classy VDay entertainment as words blend with music, poets woo with words and accomplished guitarists pluck their strings to fill the air with romance and musical wizardry for one hour and a half.

Famous poets — Erika Pineda, who is also a doctor; Gian Lao, a writer who has just released his first book of poetry; and John Berida, who does performance poetry and storytelling — take you on wings of romantic imagination as they read their poems. Then the guitars take over.

Virtuosos — Monching Carpio, one of the country’s leading classical guitarists, composer and consistent winner of international guitar competitions with solo guitar albums in his back pocket; Iqui Vinculado, a member of the award-winning guitar ensemble Triple Fret and a multi-awarded solo guitarist as well; Marga Abejo-Momper, one of the sparks of the classical guitar revolution among young people in the Philippines and one of the founders of Triple Fret; Aaron Aguila, who has trained with classical guitarist masters from all over the world and winner of various guitar festivals; and Thibault Momper a musician-composer from France whose musical projects encompass various styles from jazz to tango, from electro to classical music — make beautiful guitar music that will make this particular Valentine’s evening exceptionally unique and memorable.
